C17 He Had Become Stronger

"Something better than Vajra Bodhi? You sure know how to talk big."

The Vajra Parrot scoffed, hopping beneath the windshield and fiddling with a small object beside it with its claws.

"You'll see whether I'm talking big soon enough."

Wang Yan said this as he channeled soul energy to inscribe the attacking method.

The bare minimum to qualify as a beast tamer is to inscribe a Soul Contract by oneself.

Typically, with a Soul Strength of one point, a few practice sessions are all it takes to manage it.

Wang Yan's predecessor lacked talent, and when contracting with Green, he had to rely on his Third Uncle, Wang Guangyao, for assistance.

"Go on in!"

It took Wang Yan just over ten seconds to complete the Soul Contract inscription. He pointed to the softly glowing attacking method, gesturing for the Vajra Parrot to enter.

The Vajra Parrot didn't resist. As a spirit beast, it was fated not to grow; its best prospect was to serve as a little steward in the shop.

Despite its protests, the Vajra Parrot was deeply thankful to Wang Yan.

Even if he couldn't elevate it to Rank 2!

"You're about the size of a chick and just as silly. I'll call you Chicken Two!"

"Chicken Two?"

The Vajra Parrot paused, taken aback by Wang Yan's nickname, then burst into fury.

"You're Chicken Two, your whole family is Chicken Two!"

It ranted, all the while pecking at Wang Yan's head.

Though furious, it kept its wits about it, merely ruffling Wang Yan's hair.

"Oh? Not a fan of 'Chicken Two'?"

Wang Yan casually flipped a Rank 2 Spirit Crystal in the air, catching it with ease. The Vajra Parrot's eyes locked onto the crystal, tracking Wang Yan's every move, bobbing its head up and down.

"Catch this!"

After a few tosses, Wang Yan threw it towards the Vajra Parrot.

"Boss, I am your Chicken Two!"

The Vajra Parrot caught the crystal and affectionately nuzzled Wang Yan's face.

The crystal was as large as its head, and swallowing it would surely lead to choking.

The system's service was commendably thoughtful.

With a peck from the Vajra Parrot, the Spirit Crystal dissolved into mist and seeped through its every orifice.

"Oh~~~"

The Vajra Parrot uttered a bizarre noise, clearly having watched the shop owner's adult film.

"I'm starting to have regrets."

Wang Yan massaged his temples, his gut feeling suggesting that this bird's issues went beyond its sharp tongue—it was likely a few feathers short of a full plumage.

The Vajra Parrot leveled up swiftly, and within seconds, two options popped up on the panel.

Wing Blade: Transform wings into blades to slash the target.

Strong Gale: Flap wings rapidly to whip up a fierce wind.

After a moment's consideration, Wang Yan opted for Wing Blade.

With a melee spirit beast like this, he decided to go all in on that strategy.

With Green handling area attacks, the Vajra Parrot could be honed into a deadly assassin.

"Ah... Oh... Mmm... Snap..."

The Vajra Parrot squawked for two minutes straight until an exasperated Wang Yan smacked it against the car window.

Post-slap, Chicken Two quieted down considerably, deflated and sulking in a corner.

Wang Yan paid it no mind; the bird was clearly faking it.

With the second spirit beast in tow, it was time to stock up on spirit medicines to enhance his attributes.

Eastern Divine Qi to bolster constitution, Six-Eyed Flying Fish for agility, and Dragon Horn Root for strength, plus a plethora of other assorted tonics.

The family inheritance would ultimately pass to Wang Yuanwen, who would hand over the Wang family business to Wang Yan upon retirement.

Rounding up, it was like spending his own future money.

No pain, no gain!

Wang Yan parked the car he'd driven from his hometown outside and headed to his room, locking the door behind him.

Armed with a hefty stash of spiritual herbs, he was poised to elevate his power to new heights.

And not just his own—Green and Chicken Two were set for their next leap forward as well.

Bloodline Advancement Stones required 500 points each for redemption. Wang Yan had exactly 10,000 points, allowing him to exchange for a maximum of 20 stones.

Upon being summoned, Green instantly coiled its tail around Wang Yan's thigh and affectionately nuzzled his chest with its head.

"Ah, such a charming little snake," someone remarked.

The Vajra Parrot let out a roguish whistle, cocked its head, and cheekily inquired, "Boss, are you aiming for a romance with a beast?"

"Handsome parrot, how about going hungry for three days?" Wang Yan retorted with a sideways glance, his tone nonchalant.

"I'm sorry, boss!" The Vajra Parrot quickly apologized. Despite its sassy beak, it was quite sincere in its contrition. Wang Yan, however, held no illusions about it changing its ways.

The spiritual medicines Wang Yan ordered would take at least thirty minutes to arrive. In the meantime, he decided to upgrade the Vajra Parrot to a leader-grade quality.

"Here, eat this!" He tossed a Bloodline Advancement Stone to the parrot, whose eyes nearly popped out of its head.

It would never admit it out loud, but deep down, it felt Wang Yan was as dear as a father to it—no, even dearer.

The Vajra Parrot gently pecked at the stone, which immediately vaporized into a mist and seeped into its every orifice. Visibly, the parrot's body began to expand, its claws growing sharper and its plumage more luxurious.

"Boss, any more of those? I reckon with just two more, I could evolve into a leader," the Vajra Parrot said, its eyes brimming with longing.

Wang Yan had already surprised it plenty, not only by advancing it to Rank 2 without the need for Vajra Bodhi but now by offering a means to refine its bloodline. With enough of those stones, it could even undergo a metamorphosis into the mythical Bird King—or rather, a phoenix!

"Two more? Even though I'm so poor all I have is money, I can still spare a couple of those stones," Wang Yan quipped with a smile, flicking two more Bloodline Advancement Stones towards the parrot.

Snap! Snap!

True to its nature as a close-combat spirit beast, the Vajra Parrot's reflexes were lightning-fast.

The bird's beak struck with the swiftness of lightning, precise and razor-sharp.

"Ugh..."

Chicken Two shuddered violently, swelling at a rate visible to the naked eye. In under five seconds, it had ballooned to more than triple its original size.

Its talons and beak had become even more lethal, casting a chilling gleam in the sunlight.

The plumage atop its head stood like swords thrusting into the heavens, while the tips of its wings sliced through the air as if they were knife edges.

It exuded an aura of majesty and dominance, with an undercurrent of deadly intent.

This creature was an assassin, flamboyant in appearance, yet its formidable power was unquestionable.

Wang Yan watched the Vajra Parrot, now transformed into a formidable leader, and marveled at the wonder of evolution.

What was once a pitiful creature had now become impressively formidable.

Yet, Wang Yan realized he had ultimately misjudged.

Despite its dramatic transformation, at its core, it remained the same bird.

"Boss, your Chicken Two has gotten stronger!" the Vajra Parrot exclaimed, bouncing about and wiggling its rear end at Wang Yan.

"I'm exhausted, just turn dark and destroy everything!"

Wang Yan facepalmed, filled with regret for ever naming this foolish bird Chicken Two.

"From this moment on, you're Goldie. Utter those two words again, and you'll be cut off from your food for three days."

Wang Yan fixed a stern gaze on the Vajra Parrot, his threat laden with severity.
