C19 It Was a Winwin Situation

Rack up 233 points!

Gulping down 20 Eastern Divine Fruits in a single breath, Wang Yan's body struggled to break them down quickly, leading to a natural buildup of toxins. Thankfully, with the system on his side, he avoided what would have been a disastrous waste.

Once the Eastern Divine Qi settled in his stomach, his constitution attributes skyrocketed, finally leveling off at a solid 100 points. Despite feeling a surplus of unprocessed medicinal power, he hit an insurmountable ceiling. As Wang Yan had anticipated, there was indeed a limit to the benefits of ordinary spirit medicines.

Next up were the Dragon Horn Roots, reminiscent of ginseng yet as crisp as radishes. Biting into them caused a burst of juice to spray in his mouth, delighting his taste buds with their exceptional flavor.

Devouring thirty Dragon Horn Roots in succession, Wang Yan's strength attribute soared from 37 points to a full 100, only to encounter the same plateau as his constitution attribute. He set aside the remaining 26 roots for Goldie's return.

The Six-Eyed Flying Fish, roughly ten centimeters in length and as thick as a pinky finger, boasted delicate flesh that was typically pickled and eaten raw to retain both its potency and palatability.

Short on time and unconcerned about the minor loss of nutrients, Wang Yan simply gutted the fish and tossed it into a large pot for stewing. The resulting dish, with its succulent fish and aromatic broth, was a rare delicacy.

Feasting on the stew, Wang Yan polished off half the pot, maxing out his agility attribute. The leftovers were, of course, reserved for Green.

Post-meal, both man and snake sprawled on the bed, the very picture of contentment. Upon Goldie's return, it too indulged in a few Dragon Horn Roots before curling up to snooze. With its Lord-tier spirit beast constitution, it was impervious to the medicines' toxins, sparing any concern for internal toxin buildup.

...

...

Time flew by, and the new school term loomed just ten days away. With the three exams concluded, successful students began to submit their preferences, while those who didn't make the cut were left to seek alternative paths.

Several dozen meters from the classroom, the clamor inside was already audible.

Peering in, a group was engaged in an animated discussion, while others, with dejected expressions, packed up their belongings.

One classroom, two worlds.

"Wang, you're the man!"

Zhang Wei, his deskmate, appeared out of nowhere and gave Wang Yan a hearty slap on the shoulder.

His smug expression suggested he'd aced the exam.

"To think you got Lee Yijing so riled up she nearly blew a gasket. You're truly worthy of being my deskmate, Zhang Wei. Mwahahaha!"

Zhang Wei's laughter boomed, earning him a slew of eye rolls.

"She's too sensitive, too quick to anger. Can't handle a little ribbing."

Wang Yan sighed and discreetly moved away.

Stupidity was infectious, and he aspired to be normal.

"Forget it, you devoured her elite spirit beast and then call her petty. Lucky for us, Lee Yijing isn't here, otherwise... Uh..."

Zhang Wei abruptly stopped, his face twisting into an awkward grimace.

Wang Yan followed his gaze and spotted Lee Yijing standing nearby, her face ashen.

"Looking good, you've recovered well. When will you let your new spirit beast out to play?"

Wang Yan chuckled, greeting her as if they were old friends.

To the uninformed, it might seem like genuine concern for Lee Yijing's well-being.

To her, however, it was nothing but naked mockery.

Sure enough, Lee Yijing's body shook uncontrollably with rage at Wang Yan's words.

"Got Parkinson's?"

Zhang Wei, never one to hold back, jeered, "I suggest you work in the cafeteria; the boss would surely appreciate it."

"You... You..."

Overwhelmed by anger and still weak, Lee Yijing's world went dark, and she collapsed.

The woman beside her panicked at the sight.

"You two are squabbling with a woman? Is that how men behave?"

"What does my being a man have to do with you? Curious? Let's book a room, and I'll show you what a real man is."

Zhang Wei let out a cold sneer, feigning an attempt to drag the woman off to book a room.

But before his hand could reach her, a scream erupted from her lips.

"Assault! This man is a pervert! Somebody help me!"

Her shriek was shrill and grating, reminiscent of a pig awaiting its fate in a slaughterhouse.

Zhang Wei's face darkened; he sensed trouble brewing.

Try reasoning with her, and she'll bring up gender issues.

Speak of equality, and she'll claim to be from a vulnerable group.

Dealing with such a shrew means endless pestering and irrational arguments.

Sure enough, the woman's outcry drew the attention of nearby students, who turned to look, while a few who thrived on commotion quickly approached.

"It's him, it's him!"

The growing crowd only fueled the woman's fervor. She clutched at Zhang Wei's clothes, making a scene.

However, as Zhang Wei's expression grew increasingly grim and he readied himself to act, an unexpected voice cut through the tension.

"Look at you, you're as wide as a barrel but not nearly as tall, all waist except for your backside. Which pigpen collapsed and set you loose? Ever think to reflect on your own image before making a scene?"

"Who?"

Stung by the insult, the woman let out a piercing scream and zeroed in on her target.

A parrot, no bigger than a rooster, stood there with piercing, electric eyes, exuding an air of undeniable charisma.

Yet its words were merciless, each one a steel needle puncturing the woman's inflated ego.

"You... you..."

"What about you?" Goldie cut her off, his mockery unrelenting. "If I were you, I'd stay put at home to avoid taking up two bus seats with one behind."

"You... You..."

Enraged to the point of shaking, the woman pointed at Goldie, speechless.

Just as she was on the verge of unleashing a torrent of curses, a figure came into view, a beacon of hope in her eyes.

"Ah Chao, Ah Chao, hurry over here! Someone's picking on your girlfriend!"

Upon hearing the woman's words, the man known as Ah Chao stiffened, then turned around with an icy glare.

Wang Yan couldn't help but chuckle when he got a good look at the guy. It was none other than Brother Chao, the same guy who had ridiculed him outside the exam hall.

"Didn't you say you'd livestream yourself eating three pounds of crap if Wang Yan passed the test?" Wang Yan taunted. "Well, not only did he pass, but he also earned a Grade A rating. Time to make good on that bet, don't you think?"

Zhang Wei loved a good spectacle and promptly sidelined the ranting woman.

The crowd perked up at Zhang Wei's instigation. Why waste time on a street corner tirade when you could watch a live shit-eating show?

"You..." Brother Chao's complexion turned a sickly green, cursing his girlfriend to high heavens internally.

Sure, breaking a promise might earn you some disdain, but it was a far cry from the alternative. Still, Brother Chao wasn't ready to throw in the towel. He challenged Wang Yan to another wager.

Win, and all would be forgiven. Lose, and what's the worst that could happen? Just an extra three pounds to the tally. In his mind, it was a sure bet.
