Prior to the Contract:

  1. You can apply for a contract when your work reaches 30K words.
  2. You can apply for exclusive and non-exclusive forms of contract.
  3. Royalties for the exclusive contract is 40-50% depending on work evaluation; non-exclusive work varies from 20-40% upon evaluation by editors.
  4. The work you are uploading is your original work without any rule violation content concerning plagiarism, vulgarity, politics, etc.; You own the full copyright of your work.
  5. The following works are not suitable for contract application:
    • The works which are already exclusively and solely contracted and released on other platforms (s) or website(s);
    • The works violate relative laws and regulations;
    • The works contain contents that are not friendly to teenagers’ values or those that are not suitable to publicly publish or release.
Main rights of the contract author:
  1. The contracted works will gain, paid share, copyright share, and other author benefits.
  2. The contracted works which meet certain conditions could get the multichannel promotion.
  3. The contracted works could get the chance for cover design, publishing, audiobooks, and comics, games or film and TV series adaption.
Main obligations of the contract author
  1. The author shall upload all completed chapters by 3 workings of the contract signing.
  2. During the contract validity period, the author shall authorize digital copyright, translation rights and adaption rights to our platform.

Qn: Will I get rewards for recommending authors?

Yes, we have a recommendation bonus scheme.

If you recommend any of your writer's friends whose work (Written in English) is over 300K reads on any platform, you will get a $30 bonus per book. If the recommended book statistics are between 200-300K, the referral bonus is $10 per book.

We will give the referral bonus to you once the recommended writer has signed the exclusive or non-exclusive contract with Babelnovel, and successfully uploaded the work on our platform.

A bonus will be given to your account on the N+1 month of the contract signed.

*Note, if the recommended writer is already a signed writer or published work with Babelnovel OR already in communication with editors of Babelnovel, it will not be included in this recommendation scheme.

Contract Application FAQ

  1. How to apply for contracts in BabelNovel?

    After you have uploaded over 30K words on BabelNovel, you need to send your completed application along with the application form to [email protected] (for English work)

    The editor in charge will review your application form and inform you whether you are fit for the contract.

  2. What are the benefits of signing my book in BabelNovel? What's the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive contracts?

    We offer 2 contract types: non-exclusive contract and exclusive contract.

    For an exclusive contract, you'll get 40%-50% of the revenue, BabelNovel is the ONLY platform at which the readers could read all the locked chapters. It's ok to leave the free chapters at other sites to attract your readers to BabelNovel. But you have to take down all paid chapters in other sites in 10 working days after you signed an exclusive contract with us.

    For non-exclusive contracts, you are not required to take down your work from other platforms, and you'll get at 20%-40% of the monthly royalties.

  3. What is the writer's benefit of the signed contract?

    For an exclusive contract, we have a higher standard of evaluation, you have to send the first 5 chapters of your book along with your writer's application form. All accepted exclusive contracts will receive a signing bonus. All exclusive contracts will receive a signing bonus of at least $ 30.

    For a non-exclusive contract, If your work is greater than 100K views in any other online novel platform, we will give a signing bonus. Please list the greatest number of view stats of your work and platform name in your application form. If your work is greater than 100K views on either platform, we will give a signing bonus depending on your view stats, total word count, and of course your story itself. So make sure you have everything on your application form, an excellent synopsis and the stats we need to review your work.

    If your work falls below 100K views, we normally do not give any signing bonus, unless you want to go for exclusive, or the book is relatively new ( released in 2 months), you can send us an email stating the case, our editor will review case by case.

  4. How can I upload my novel?

    First, register and login into your account on Babelnovel; If you are using PC: click Create on the main page babelnovel.com to start uploading.

    If you are using mobile, download Babelnovel on Android or iOS. After registering and logging in. Goto Me- I'm a writer to start uploading.

  5. Novels of which language does BabelNovel accept? All manuscripts must be in English?

    English, Filipino/Tagalog, Spanish, Indonesian. (We have recently opened books in Filipino/Tagalog and Spanish, so books in these two languages will get a higher chance of exposure)

  6. No contract was sent to me yet my work chapters got locked... Why?

    To keep readers interested, editors will lock the chapters for some chosen book in advance and test for books statistics (only free bricks involved in book testing). You need to apply for a contract yourself by sending emails to [email protected]

    Note: Only signed work will unlock the paid bricks option, all potential income will be reserved and accumulated to writers once you signed the contract, you could view your income on the writer's income dashboard at: DASHBOARD LINK

  7. When will my work be promoted on the platform？

    All the new SIGNED books will be promoted once, and exclusive works will be promoted more often.

    We also have a featured writer's recommendation series every week. If you have signed more than 4 books, you are qualified for this promotion. You can follow our "Weekly Author Collection", or if you are being featured the first time, your editor will inform you.

    Other books are based on the reader's stats such as your book retention, the number of chapters read and bricks spent on your book. The well-performed books will be selected to have a better location and more frequent display in recommendations.

    If your book has been unpopular for some time, and you believe it's due to the lack of exposure, you can contact your editors to analyze the problem, and help promote your book.

Writer's dashboard FAQ

  1. Why didn't my book get approved?

    When uploading, the title of the book must be on the cover to be approved（The size of the picture should be 1800*2400), and the image format should be JPG or JPEG. A Book synopsis of more than 80 words is required.

    For other reasons, you can log in to the writer's centre and check the book detail, the text in red after the book name indicates the reason why your books have not passed.

  2. How can I edit the description and the cover of my novel?

    Currently, you cannot edit them yourself. Please contact the editors to help you edit. ([email protected])

  3. How to edit published chapters?

Payment Related FAQ

  1. When can I get the income？

    Payment will be by N+1 end of the month, i.e. Signed contract in May, first payment by 30th Jun.

    All monthly payments below $30 will be accumulated to the next payment month to minimise transaction costs. (Transaction fees are bearded by writers).

  2. How do I track my income on your website？ I can't find my income on my dashboard. How can I see my income details？

    We have a monthly revenue report form in which you can see your monthly income. Login to WRITER'S CENTER.(Only available in PC)

    We advise you to check between 26th -30th every month as the payment stats are being refreshed.

    If you cannot view the Report Form, you could email your editor to check for you.

  3. Can I use Paypal/Payoneer to receive my income? Can I receive the income through a bank transfer?

    Yes, you can. (Please note that for Payoneer, the income should reach $50 for a transaction or there will be a high amount of service fee. If your income has not reached $50, it will be accumulated to next month)

    We advise you to not use bank transfers as there will be a large sum of transaction costs. You could also check if Wise is available in your country. (see the following question)

  4. Paypal/Payoneer is not available in my area, what should I do?

    You can try WISE, which can bind with your bank card.

  5. Why didn't I get my income this month?

    If you choose Payoneer to receive the income, the platform requires a minimum transaction amount of $50, if your income is below $50, it will be accumulated to next month.

    The other condition is that your monthly income is less than $30, to keep your maximum profit, your income is accumulated to next month to minimise the transaction fee.
