Listening to their false allegations
I blinked my eyes shut to stop my tears.
"Victoria, what is this?" My father looked at me sorrowfully. I bit my lips.
"How can you be such a disgrace to our family?" This time he shouted which he had never done before. I flinched and tried to talk back. Tried to explain but no words escaped from my mouth.
"F-Father, I didn't do anything," I stuttered, suddenly overwhelmed by my environment. "If you give me a chance to clarify it to you-"
"Stop lying, you disgraceful child. You have brought nothing but shame upon our family! And this time was no different." My stepmother, Kristina shrieked. "Why are you looking for excuses?"
She gripped my shoulder harshly as her nails dug into my skin. It should have hurt.
