Memorable Reunion

It is the annual alumni reunion event at the Lauderton High School, which they hold in the large gymnasium in the main school building. 
The events in these stories take place at various times during the evening, and to different characters; they are not chapters of the same story, but a series of separate takes. 
We are the invisible camera, panning around the scene and then zooming in for a close-up ...

Asami Yamaguchi had graduated from high school five years ago, and was now aged 23. 
Her mother was Japanese and her father of Italian-American descent; her name in Japanese means ‘beautiful’. 
This was the first reunion that Asami had attended; previously, she had felt that it was too soon after graduating.
 However, now that she had completed her computing degree and landed a job with an internet company based near Pasadena, she felt that she had at last left the education system for the so-called ‘real world’. 
There was an attraction in touching base with her roots again, and so she had arranged to come back for the reunion event, staying with her parents for the weekend.
But she discovers that this is more than just a high school reunion…
Could this give her the opportunity to have that which she has always wanted?
Would this give her the chance to experience what she has always wanted?
