Moonlight Bride

Moonlight Bride

Author: Jernalie Dumapay
Callea received a call from her grandfather. He told her that he arranged a marriage with his best friend’s grandson – Deive Hontiveros. Callea was forced to agree if she wants to stay in Villa Celesta.
On Deive’s way to the villa in the province, a cat suddenly crossed the street and it was nearly run over by his car. He stepped on the brake right away and nearly had an accident. The people beside the road said that it was bad luck and told him that Ville Celesta was haunted but he doesn’t believe in ghosts or supernatural.
When he arrived at the mansion, he was welcomed by a hunchback maid named Marina. She just had one reminder – whatever he hears, he must not leave his room.
He woke up around midnight with the sound of someone playing a piano. He left his room and look for it. There was no one playing the piano in the living room but he noticed that the door going the garden is open. He went outside when he heard a woman wearing a white nightgown. She was crying and calling for “Luna”. He tried to offer his help to the woman. She told him to stay away from him and he must not leave his room.
Then a cat suddenly came out of nowhere and scratched his face. He walked backwards as he balked against the attack but he fell in the swimming pool. He was pissed off because the place was really haunted.
He met Callea the next day. She was beautiful, graceful, and perfect for him. He felt like he hit the jackpot. He asked her about the ghost and Callea denied that ghosts exist. But he was not convinced that it was just his imagination and he wanted to protect Callea at all cost.
He went to church to get holy water and asked his younger brother to bring an antique crucifix in their family museum and even Dead Sea salt to ward off evil spirit.
Deive was ready for battle come midnight. He heard a creepy woman’s voice singing an old song and it was coming from Callea’s room. He was armed with a necklace of garlic, the antique crucifix, and the sea salt when he stormed the room. He barged in the door and got scared because Callea was sleeping. She was not moving at all and he thought she was possessed. He tried to wake her up but to his horror, she was bloodied and her dress was bloodied as well. Then the evil cat attacked him again and he tried his best to fight it off. He bumped into a cabinet and many things toppled over him. As he tried to get out of the rubble, a skeleton was hugging him.
He shrieked in fear and the bloodied or possessed Callea woke up. She tried to pacify him but he shoved her away. She tried to explain that it was the real her and she was not possessed. Deive then realized that it was Callea that was scaring him all along. She explained to him that she doesn’t want to look pretty. She does cosplay of her scary characters because she is a popular horror graphic artist. Deive won’t accept her real identity and wanted to dissolve their engagement.
In the end, Deive agreed to continue with the set up. He would willingly marry her but she must change her personality.
